The hospitality was outstanding, and I immediately felt comfortable and well cared for. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. What made the stay especially memorable was the opportunity to learn about Maasai culture. The information shared was insightful and enriching, offering a meaningful understanding of their traditions and way of life. Overall, it was a truly positive and authentic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking cultural immersion combined with warm hospitality.Posted on EmmaVerified Family volunteering stay in Maasai Village We had such a fantastic time at the Maasai Eco Boma while in Tanzania with our 2 children aged 11 and 14. We were there as volunteers for 2 weeks and were welcomed whole heartedly by Sane and his team. It was an incredible experience to spend 2wks in the Maasai Village and we all thoroughly enjoyed learning about the culture and way of life of the Maasai people. To be able to contribute to their community through a building project while we were there was incredibly rewarding. We raised some money from friends and family at home in Australia and so were able to make numerous meaningful donations to the school and village as well as giving our time on the building project. I can’t recommend this highly enough, to be immersed and involved in Maasai village life brought so much more to our trip than just being spectators at the game parks and other tourist destinations. If you get the opportunity to visit Tanzania you should definitely plan a stay at the Maasai Eco Boma, and consider volunteering if you have the time and inclination. Your efforts and contributions will be met with great appreciation by the beautiful Maasai people.Posted on Ben CVerified Aussie family volunteers in Maasai Village We had an amazing experience volunteering for 2 weeks at Maasai Eco Boma. Words can’t describe how fulfilling our experience was given the beautiful nature of the people. The Maasai people of this area are in drought, they have very little and their focus is on food and water. Yet, despite the daily challenges they are happy and kind people. We didn’t know what the volunteering experience would be like but we quickly met Christopher who looks after the school and Clemian who runs the whole traditional Boma community and the wider Maasai families near by. I took my family: me 49 years old, my wife 46 years old and my two sons 14 and 11 years old. We brought some school resource (30kgs of books, pens, toys annd lego) and the attitude that we wanted to help, whatever that may look like. We were along side a German family and an Australian couple and together we made lifelong memories, connections and a keenness to come back. We didn’t know the others before we arrived. In our group of 7 adults and 2 children we we covered the following backgrounds: Project Management, building, teaching, engineering, electrical skills, veterinary science and school students. Our main project was to source the tools and materials for a school clothes washing area for the children in the boarding facility. This was also to be used by all children to wash their hands before having the provided meal at school each day. We completed this and with the help of a “go fund me” page our interested friends and family back home were able to donate and over our 2 week stay we also achieved the following: • Buy the school a new photo copier as their’s has broken. • Buy the school and the inner community solar panels, an inverter and batteries so they can run the whole school and inner community on free energy rather than using their generator. • Buy 20 kids in the surrounding community some matrices as they currently sleep on the floor. • Buy the school 100 text books as they need them. • Buy 2 tonnes of corn which will feed the surrounding community of about 150 people for 1 month. • Buy the community 100,000 litres of water for drinking and their livestock. • Buy the materials and fix all the broken school desks and chairs. • And finally we wrote them a report and gave them a design on how to harvest rainwater from the school roves. Over the two week period we were made to feel like we were family. The Maasai people were so grateful and kind. Our experience was truly remarkable and fulfilling. Many thanks to Clemian, Sunnay, Steve, Tall and Christopher and everyone.Posted on Passport43990526382Verified Sehr gut Es war sehr spannend und beeindruckend zu sehen wie die maasai leben.
