"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can". ~Arthur Ashe

Embark on the voluntourism trip of a lifetime and journey of self-discovery at Maasai Eco Boma Lodge. We accept volunteers with the skills and enthusiasm to support our sustainable development projects. In the past these have included local Tanzanians, school groups and international safari travellers - we work closely with many safari companies. Our friendly Maasai staff provide support throughout volunteer stay experiences.

Teaching

The Maasai people believe that a formal education is vital for development and critical for their children to achieve success. Indeed, an education is the only hope for many of these children to live a life above the poverty line, and therefore is a vital part of our volunteer programs.

Education related volunteer opportunities include:

1 . Academic: science, math, and English
2 . Sports education, dance and music education
3 . Health and wellness, and so much more!

Help students realize their academic potential as a volunteer at Nashipay Pre and Primary School.

The possibilities are vast. With your creative energy and acts of voluntourism, the locals see that they are valued and respected. From this comes hope and opportunity to thrive and build their lives in a positive direction.

Permaculture Farming

The local Maasai community has shown inspiring initiative by installing a successful permaculture farm at the site of Nashipay Pre and Primary School. The farm can always benefit from volunteer workers to help maintain the health of fields, vegetable gardens, and fruit orchards, and teach permaculture practices to the school students. Our newest crop to be planted is sunflowers. The plants are inexpensive to grow, do not require a great deal of water, yield marketable sunflower seeds and oil, provide fodder for farm animals, and compost for healthy soil. Maasai Cultural Preservation

shield

The Maasai's rich, dynamic culture is under threat from pressures outside of their control - climate change, population growth, unsustainable grazing, land conversion and economic growth. Now more than ever, Maasai culture is at risk of being lost forever.

Help preserve this beautiful culture by learning about and recording traditional Maasai life such as herbal healing, building practices, language, and nomadic pastoralism.

Perhaps with your assistance, this could even be the beginning of a very exciting, unique and valuable opportunity to develop a Maasai Cultural Heritage Museum project!

You will see may artifacts throughout the Maasai Eco Boma Lodge, whether in your Boma, in the Dining area or around the Maasailand.Â
